Bess Truman Family Medical Center: Department of Community and Family Medicine

The Bess Truman Family Medical Center is the primary care clinic at Truman Medical Center Lakewood and is part of the Department of Community and Family Medicine and the primary outpatient teaching site for the Family Medicine Residency Program. The Department of Community and Family Medicine employs 26 faculty, and provides training for 42 Family Medicine residents (14 in each class) and 3 fellowships (geriatrics, advanced obstetrics and sports medicine).

Department Mission - In order to achieve our future, the faculty and members of the Department of Community and Family Medicine will: Develop and continuously enhance medical home services for the population of patients we serve; Provide training to our learners that provides for clear understanding and engagement in the work of the discipline of family medicine while respecting and meeting the individual needs of learners; Ask, define, and find answers to questions of importance in the work of family medicine and education while informing others of our findings
