Prioritizing Solutions: Integrated Primary Care in Medicaid and CHIP

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, nearly one in four Americans have a behavioral health condition. But millions of Americans don’t get the care they need to manage or treat their condition effectively. Cost, stigma, and lack of awareness are all major barriers to care—especially for vulnerable populations.

Medicaid and CHIP are uniquely positioned to help address these underlying issues. Covering more than 90 million people—or nearly one-quarter of all Americans—Medicaid is a key vehicle for bettering the health of underserved communities.
